QUETTA - Balochistan Home Department stated on Saturday that 13,575 terrorists were arrested while 337 killed in around 2,825 operations in the province in 2015-16.
The Home Department has issued a report over progress in implementation of National Action Plan through a comprehensive crackdown against militant outfits and their funding that was consolidated after Army Public School attack in December 2014.Huge cache of weapons and ammunition were seized in nearly 3000 raids and counter-terrorism operations.According to the report, 4,223 different types of guns and 2,48,327 bullets and mortar shells were seized until August this year since 2015.Home Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti claimed that terrorists had been defeated and their back was broken, however, operations would continue until the last one of them would be killed. National Action Plan calls for close coordination among law enforcement agencies and intelligence organizations.According to the plan, anti-terror strikes were to be ramped up while seminaries were to be registered and credentials of teachers and students noted down.Opposition parties have criticised the strategy numerous times and termed it useless calling for a stricter policy.FOUR BULLET-RIDDLED BODIES RECOVEREDFour bullets-riddled bodies were recovered in Gorbarat area of Kalat district on Saturday.According to Levies sources, the Levies personnel recovered dead bodies of four persons who were shot dead by unknown persons. The victims were identified as Dilshad, Karim, Habib and Shah Nazar. The dead bodies were shifted to Kalat for postmortem.13 SUSPECTS HELD WITH ARMS IN QUETTAThe Frontier Constabulary (FC) arrested 13 suspects during combing operation and recovered arms from their custody in Quetta on Saturday.Spokesman of FC said that paramilitary forces, responding to a tip-off regarding presence of extremists, conducted a combing search operation in Kharotabad locality of the provincial capital.He said during the search operation 13 suspects were arrested, besides recovery of weapons from their possession and they were being interrogated.Published in The Nation newspaper on 21-Aug-2016
