Muzaffarabad - Indian troops on Saturday shelled civilian population along the Line of Control (LoC) in Neelum Valley, officials said. 

"The Indian army opened fire in Keran and Aathmuqam in lower Neelum Valley resulting injuries to three as a mortar shell hit a tourist rest house," Deputy Commissioner Neelum Sardar Waheed Khan told The Nation. A tourist from Lahore was among the injured, he said without identifying the identity of the injured. The shelling began in the early morning and continued till noon, the official added.Residents took cover in safer places soon after the shelling started at 7.00 am and education institutions remained shut while tourists were evacuated.Meanwhile, deputy commissioner has banned entry of tourists to Neelum Valley for an indefinite period in wake shelling on the LOC.
